GOHS Final Exam Exemption Information

Grand Oaks Parents,

Final exam time is upon us. This means it is time for students to begin the process for exemptions. Senior students can pick up exemption forms starting May 5 at the kiosk in the cafeteria during their lunches. After that, they will be available in their assistant principal’s office. Underclassmen can pick up their exemption forms beginning May 12 at the kiosk in the cafeteria during their lunches. After that, they will be available in their assistant principal’s office. Senior exemption forms are due back to their assistant principal’s office by the end of the day May 12. For underclassmen their forms are due back to their assistant principal’s office on May 19.

In order for student’s to qualify to exempt an exam students must meet the following criteria:

  • Students must have at least an 80% average for the 2nd semester.
    • The only exception is for AP courses – student must be passing and have taken the AP exam, in addition to meeting all other criteria.
  • Students may not exempt any exam if they’ve been assigned ISS, OSS, DAEP, or JJAEP this school year.
  • All fines and fees must be paid prior to May 12 for seniors and May 19 for underclassmen. (Fundraising, textbooks, library fees, uniform fees, etc.)

Library fees may be paid in the library, and all other fees/fines may be paid in the finance office of the school or on school cash online. Once a student has cleared those three areas, and received a signature for each they may then take their form to their teacher for their signature. Once a student has completed their form it MUST be turned back into their assistant principal’s office. Students may exempt the following number of exams:

  • 12th graders: All Final Exams in the Spring Semester
  • 11th graders: Up to 4 Final Exams in the Spring Semester
  • 10th graders: Up to 3 Final Exams in the Spring Semester
  • 9th graders: Up to 2 Final Exams in the Spring Semester

If a student is taking an AP course and has taken the AP exam they may also exempt the AP course, and it will not count towards their total number of exams they may exempt.

If a student receives discipline (ISS, OSS, DAEP, or JJAEP) after they have received a form or been cleared in all areas they will not be able to exempt, and their status will be changed if their form has already been turned in.
