About Travis Intermediate

History & Namesake

Travis Intermediate is the oldest campus in Conroe ISD, opening in 1926 as Crockett High School. Travis served as a high school until Conroe High School opened in 1962. Elvis Presley once performed on the football field.

The Board of Trustees decided to rename campuses for Texas heroes, so Crockett High School was named for William B. Travis, an officer in the Texian Army who died defending The Alamo.
